Wednesday

I can't believe I have less than a month left of my exchange. Time here has just flown by so fast, as it does tend to do nowadays (I think I'm becoming OLD).
Most of the uniwork is behind us, we only have one presentation and a report to do and 2 exams coming up before the end of the semester. But at the moment I feel quite relieved as we had our biggest presentations this week which included 26 people working together on one project where we had to come up with a product. We decided to open a cafe on the rooftop of one of our campus' buildings and I actually wish this plan would come true someday since at the end, the 3D model of the cafe looked amazing! To say the least, it wasn't the easiest task but we nailed it and our tutors were impressed!
Our project team after the presentation, everyone is happpyyy that it's over!

Last weekend, On Saturday,
we did a day-trip to the near by Damai beach (about half an hour drive). This time I actually made it to the beach, since last time we only ended up lying on the pool...

On the way to Damai, Mount Santubong

Damai Beach Resort.

This was the resorts private beach so we needed to pay RM 3 to go there. I might have forgotten pay it though...

In the afternoon the weather got reeeally windy!

Waiting for the rain that never came after all.

Antony, Chris and Marina waiting for our ride back to Kuching. Notice the lollipop!

Saturday evening we went to Curve to celebrate our friend Yesenia's birthday and for few beers (Tiger!)

From the terrace.

This cover band was so good! We also saw some beat-boxing by random Irish guy and other random performances...

Oh, and we did go to acoustic night last Friday that was organized in our Uni but the quality of pictures is really bad so I won't post them here. Never have I seen people being that exited about their friends playing guitar on stage! :D But there was actually quite nice performances that night and I did enjoy myself!

Life after the mid sem break

After I came back from the mid sem break (about 3 weeks ago) it was reeeeally hard to get used to the Uni life again and the first week went by still on holiday mode but quite quickly after that I had to start studying again...

Life is going on its own pace as I got Uni couple hours a day and quite a lot of Uni work at the moment. The next three weeks will the the most busiest during the semester since we still got two presentations to do and two exams coming up. Also it might be so that I haven't returned all my coursework on time so need to catch up with that. :D

We have also discovered the nicest park near our apartment where you can go jogging. In the afternoons young people, families, elderly and wannabe marathon runners gather in the park. I think I don't even need to say how much staring we are getting when we go there...Also in another green area nearby you can find people playing badminton and throwing Frisbee etc (and I just remembered I have a Frisbee here which I brought from Langkawi and I still haven't used it).

One thing we had planned to do here was to go to the Satok Weekend market where we found our way with my friend Marina (and neighbor) this one Sunday Morning. It was absolutely worth of going! I bought bunch of fresh vegetables and fruits which were ridiculously cheap and Marina got a whole water melon with 5 ringgits (about 1,3 euros). The market is held every weekend a bit outside the city center and it's held every weekend from Saturday afternoon till Sunday noon. There was everything You could imagine to found in the market: fruits, vegetables, fish, all kinds of seafood, meat, chicken, souvenirs...The smell at the fish and meat section was, to say the least, interesting. So I wouldn't recommend going to that market if you are sensitive as there was all kinds of meat and the ugliest fish I've ever seen and there are no parts of cow (or any other animal) they couldn't sell here, everything is sold. So when we finally found our way out of the fish section I was quite happy. The idea of becoming a vegetarian didn't seem such a bad idea after visiting the market...

That's about it this time. I will post couple of pictures of the cat city and the market:
