Ok,one month since the last post. What can I say? The lifestyle in here is a bit slower...Or I'm lazy, you decide.
Anyway,I was away from Kuching for couple of weeks during the mid-semester break (and this week I've been suffering from post-holiday depression) travelling with my good friend Emmi.
We started our holiday on Wednesday from Singapore where she met me at the airport (the reunion was almost unreal!) and we started our 2 week journey. We spend the first 5 days in Singapore exploring the city. The first day Emmi was still suffering from jet lag as she arrived to Singapore on Tuesday and had traveled about 20 hours and I was just tired (after all I had woken up before 6am,that's early for me!), so we ended up having a nap in our hostel (called 98SG, quite ok dorms and nice people) and in the evening ended up wondering around the Marina Bay where we saw the famous Merlion statue (half a lion, half fish), amazing light shows and and had well deserved vine glasses.
The next day we headed to Singapore Zoo which we had read (thank you Lonely Planet) to have no cages and apparently happy inhabitants. I am not usually friend of Zoos but this one actually was quite nice and most of the animals seemed to have lot of space and nice living environment. We saw elephants, giraffes, rhinos, tigers, lions, zebras, monkeys and so on...On Thursday evening we had our first (and quite many more after that) Tiger beers in Singapore and ended up in a very random local bar...
Friday morning we decided to go to Orchid gardens to get rid of the hangover and take some photos. I also saw, for the first time in my life,a black swan! In the evening we met some of my friends from Uni in Chinatown for dinner.
On Saturday we headed to Changi Village for some Indian food and wondered around in the beach and past many stalls which were selling all kinds of stuff for tourists to buy.
Sunday morning we packed our stuff and headed to Sentosa island to get ourselves sunburned for the first time. The man made beach was a dream come true for us,since we hadn't really got any tan yet, and loud club music, some nice food and cocktails made the last day in Singapore just perfect!
Around 1opm on Sunday evening our flight to Penang set off and we said goodbye to Singapore.
To be continued....
Love from again rainy Kuching
